She specializes in the the mental health of parents before and after the birth of a child, as well as mood disorders and other issues that affect women over the course of their lifetime.

Dr. Elisabeth Netherton is board certified in psychiatry and neurology, specializing in women’s mental health issues and the psychiatric treatment of women and men before, during and after the birth of a child. She has given a number of presentations about postpartum depression as well as mood disorders that affect women throughout the phases of adult life. 


She has presented public programs, given media interviews and led training workshops, including serving as a volunteer instructor at the Postpartum Mental Health Training and a panelist at the screening of the film “Dark Side of the Full Moon,” which were part of Mental Health America of Greater Houston’s initiative to raise awareness about postpartum depression.
Dr. Netherton completed her adult psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine, which included a rotation at The Menninger Clinic. She earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
