Jon G. Allen, PhD, Senior Staff Psychologist, The Menninger Clinic; Helen Malsin Palley Chair in Mental Health Research and Professor of Psychiatry, Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Baylor College of Medicine
Dr. Allen specializes in treating trauma-related disorders and depression. A prolific writer and editor, he is the author of books on trauma, depression and mentalizing. These include:
In addition, he is the co-author of Mentalizing in Clinical Practice, and the Handbook of Mentalization-based Treatment.
Dr. Allen has developed a number of psychoeducational groups for patients and conducts workshops on trauma nationally and internationally for professionals. He is the principal investigator for Menninger’s hospital-wide outcomes project.
Dr. Allen has served as the editor of the Bulletin of The Menninger Clinic and currently serves as associate editor of the Journal of Trauma and Dissociation.
Dr. Allen received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Rochester. He completed his postdoctoral clinical psychology fellowship at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry & Mental Health Sciences.
