Adult Division Director to Present at Suicide Treatment Workshop

michael-groatOn Friday, February 21, The Menninger Clinic and Skyland Trail are co-sponsoring a continuing education workshop in Dallas to increase understanding and treatment of suicide.
 
The presentations will be:
  • "Relieving Psychache: Group & Individual Interventions for Suicidal Individuals" by Michael Groat, PhD, MS, director, Adult Services Division, The Menninger Clinic; and assistant professor, Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Baylor College of Medicine
  • "Message in a (Pill) Bottle: Better Understanding Suicidal & Parasuicidal Behaviors" by Raymond Kotwicki, MD, MPH, chief medical officer for Skyland Trail; associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, Emory University School of Medicine; and associate professor of health policy and management, Rollins School of Public Health
Five contact hours with full attendance is available for psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, and chemical dependency counselors.
 
The registration deadline is Friday, February 14. 
 
The workshop costs $35 and will take place at the Cooper Hotel, Conference Center and Spa, 12230 Preston Rd., Dallas, TX 75230. It begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Lunch is provided.
