Each year, The Menninger Clinic’s Annual Signature Luncheon brings together the Greater Houston community to increase awareness of mental health issues and to raise crucial funding for The Clinic’s research and training programs.
Held May 4 at the Westin Galleria Hotel, Menninger’s 2017 Annual Signature Luncheon exceeded both its attendance and fundraising goals. More than 650 guests participated and approximately $575,000 was raised in support of Menninger programs. The Menninger Foundation Board Director Ronny Cuenod and his wife, Dorothy, and Clinic Board Director Jeff Paine and his wife, Paula, served as luncheon co-chairs.
The luncheon featured Elizabeth Vargas
, ABC News anchor and co-host of “20/20,” who spoke about her journey to overcome lifelong anxiety, as well as an addiction to alcohol. The founding mothers of The Gathering Place
— Mrs. Lynne Paine
, Mrs. Nancy Runnells
and Mrs. Beverly Wuntch
— also were honored for their role in establishing one of Houston’s first psychosocial clubhouses for adults with serious mental illness.
The Office of Philanthropy thanks the many guests and volunteers who helped to ensure the 2017 luncheon’s success. Stay tuned in the coming months for details on the 2018 luncheon.
