Dr. Weinstein joined The Menninger Clinic staff in August 2010, following five years as an attending psychiatrist in the acute inpatient psychiatric unit at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and a year in private practice and as a consulting psychiatrist at Hickory Psychiatric Center and Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, North Carolina. While at MUSC, he directed residency training for the combined psychiatry and neurology program and was assistant professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
 
A Washington and Lee University graduate with a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience, he earned his medical degree at MUSC. After an internship in internal medicine and psychiatry at the University of Virginia, Dr. Weinstein completed the combined psychiatry and neurology residency program at MUSC.
 
He has been a co-investigator on clinical research trials, and his papers on assessment of clinical outcomes and other topics have been published in peer-reviewed journals. In 2008, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of South Carolina honored Dr. Weinstein its Physician of the Year.
