The Menninger Difference
We recognize there are many choices for inpatient mental healthcare. When treatment in other settings hasn’t been effective, consider The Menninger Clinic for:
- Treatment that focuses on the individual needs of the patient
- An understanding of the disorders and contributing factors impacting the patient that are causing difficulties in daily living plus recommendations for next steps in treatment and community support
- Hope for adolescents and adults with difficult-to-treat mental illness
- For patient families, support and education about mental health treatment
- Staff who work together to care for the whole person
Our mental health professionals specialize in severe and dual psychiatric disorders. They strive to understand and care for the patient medically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. They teach what they know to patients and their families. This approach, we have found, helps empower patients to manage their illness over time.
Most of all, we believe in the potential of our patients.
Menninger offers five specialty inpatient programs and diagnostic services:
Specialty program advantages
The programs focus intensively on the needs of patients who share similarities in age, symptoms or diagnoses and level of functioning.
Patients work together as a community in their program, providing support to one another and making decisions that affect the group. With patients at varying stages of treatment, those who are nearing completion of their treatment serve as an inspiration to newer patients.
Mental health professionals with expertise and experience working with specific patient populations unite on treatment teams. The interdisciplinary perspectives from nursing staff, recreational therapists, chemical dependency counselors, behavior therapists, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists offer insight and counsel for the patient.
The most important person on the treatment team is the patient. Together, the patient and team collaborate on treatment goals and on measuring progress.
Therapies in each specialty program are designed for the needs of the patients. The treatment teams also have the flexibility of integrating treatment groups or clinical expertise from anywhere in the hospital to meet patients’ needs.
