Houston Chronicle Features Social Worker, Psychologist Discussing Benefits of Trauma-sensitive Yoga

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

The popularity of yoga has exploded in recent decades, and with it, numerous schools of the practice have become available to devotees.

Earlier this year, Menninger introduced this type of yoga, which is led by Dallas Adams, LCSW, a certified yoga teacher who has been practicing yoga for 15 years. For patients with chronic pain, who often also have mental health issues, and for patients with a history of trauma, participating in trauma-sensitive yoga can be effective when coupled with evidence-based psychiatric treatments.

Both Adams and Alok Madan, PhD, who leads The Clinic's Pain Management Program, were interviewed by the Houston Chronicle for this article on trauma-sensitive yoga.
