Families are integral to the therapeutic and healing process at Menninger. And to facilitate that process, we offer a Family Education Day nearly every two months.
The day is dedicated to helping patients' families learn about psychiatric, behavioral and addictive disorders and elevate their understanding of treatment approaches and ways of strengthening understanding within the family. Equally important is the opportunity to meet other families and share experiences.
The Family Education Day was very informative. It changed my attitude and way of communicating with my kids and family. Thank you! participating family member
Family Education Day takes place at Menninger, and the educational sessions are led by our staff and faculty. Topics covered include The Importance of Time in Treatment, The Benefits of Real-time Feedback in Patient-centered Care, Development and Attachment, Mentalizing as a Framework for Treatment, Psychotherapy, Families in Recovery, Pharmacotherapy and Wellness and Recovery Planning.
Family members of current patients are invited to register for an upcoming session. The maximum number of participants per session is 60. Unfortunately, we cannot provide childcare.
There is no cost to participating in a Family Education Day.
If a session is full, you may join the waiting list or register for the next scheduled session.
