Outpatient Clinicians

Menninger offers outpatient therapy for adults, adolescents and children at two locations: our main campus and Bellaire, Texas. The core members of our outpatient clinical team are listed below; members of our Outpatient Assessments team also are available for outpatient appointments.

Assistant Professor, Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Baylor College of Medicine

 

Board certified in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Stevens completed his residency in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital in Boston. He earned his medical degree and a master's degree in public health from New York Medical College and his bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College.

 

His expertise includes the psychopharmacologic management of mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and disruptive behavior disorders in adults or children, as well as managing conditions that require complex medication interventions. He has presented at various conferences in this country and abroad.

Sherry is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who provides individualized evaluation and treatment for people with mental health problems. She has experience working with patients with mood, anxiety, thought and/or substance use disorders and is interested in treating patients with a variety of mental health concerns and medical illnesses and conditions.
 
She received her master’s degree from The University of Texas Health Sciences Center Houston. She is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.  

 

She is a founding board member of Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses (PAPN) of Texas and a board member of PAPN of Houston. She is a member of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She is also a member of Houston Eating Disorder Specialists.

Dr. O’Neill has worked in the field of mental health and addiction for more than 25 years in both public and private organizations, including MHMRA of Harris County, the Houston Astros, the Minor League Baseball Umpire Development Program and Phoenix House. In addition, he has held multiple positions at The Menninger Clinic, including program director of our Professionals Program and director of Addiction Services. He also has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at local colleges.
 
Dr. O’Neill has presented at more than 75 local and national conferences on such subjects as anxiety and addiction, attachment theory and substance use, family dynamics, motivational enhancement theory, trauma and sexual addiction. He is a popular media resource, having been interviewed by the Houston Chronicle, Denver Post, Washington Post, Houston Medical Journal, WebMD, ESPN, National Public Radio, Fox News, NPR, XM Radio and KTRH Radio. 
 
Dr. O'Neill is a licensed clinical social worker, chemical dependency counselor and a certified addiction counselor (sex addiction). His areas of interest include:
  • Marital work as part of a family system
  • Substance use problems
  • Problematic sexual behaviors
  • Attachment theory in the context of relationships
  • Gambling, technology and other problematic behavioral addictions
  • Adolescent and young-adult development
He earned his doctorate in behavioral health leadership from Grand Canyon University, his master's degree in social work from Arizona State University and his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University.
 

Alton Bozeman, PsyD

Dr. Bozeman provides psychological, developmental and neuropsychological assessment of children, adolescents and adults, as well as individual therapy. He is noted for his expertise in autism assessments and interventions. 

 

His previous employment includes The Harris Center (formally MHMRA), as well as a private practice in the Houston area for more than 10 years. Dr. Bozeman is currently a staff psychologist at Menninger who divides his time between the Bellaire location of Menninger Outpatient Services and the main campus. He also is an assistant professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Services at Baylor College of Medicine.

 

Dr. Bozeman earned his doctorate from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. He completed a predoctoral internship in pediatric neuropsychology at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and a postdoctoral fellowship at Canyon Lakes Residential Treatment Center in Lubbock, Texas.

 

Angela A. Koreth, MS, LPC-S

A licensed professional counselor-supervisor, Angela is the program manager at the Bellaire location of Menninger's Outpatient Services. She works with children, teens, adults and couples. Her specialties include premarital and marital counseling, parenting and family counseling, dialectical behavioral therapy, emotion regulation, severe shyness and codependency.

 

Angela earned her master's in counseling degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

 

Barbi Topek, LCSW

A social worker with more than 20 years of experience, Barbi works with adults and parents at the Bellaire location of Menninger's Outpatient Services. Her specialties include groups, parenting, trauma, women's issues, perfectionism and coaching.

 

Barbi earned her master's degree in social work from the University of Houston.

 

James Sargent, LCDC

James has been a licensed chemical dependency counselor since 2008 and currently practices at The Menninger Clinic's Outpatient Services location in Bellaire. He graduated from The Institute of Chemical Dependence Studies in Houston and is experienced in treating adults, families and adolescents.

 
He is certified in trauma resolution, relapse-prevention and shame resilience. In addition, he is trained in sexual addiction assessment and in administering the SASSI and ASI screenings. He specializes in intensive outpatient services for individuals, families and adolescents with addiction issues. James also facilitates the relapse prevention group.
 
Virginia Miller, MA, LPC
Elysée Virginia Miller Caballaro has experience helping individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, high-functioning autism and spirituality issues. She works with a range of ages, but has worked extensively with families with younger children, teenagers and young adults. She also serves as a coach for teens and adults who need help with stress management, routines and accountability.
 
Virginia earned her master's degree in professional counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
