Sharlie brings more than 13 years of experience to her role as a staff social worker. Her areas of expertise include adolescents, young adults, adults, trauma, attachment theory and psychodynamic theory. She has research interests in the areas of attachment, trauma, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from The University of Chicago, she went on to earn a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
Sharlie believes that self-care keeps her of sound mind and body in this field. This includes reading, running, salsa dancing and spending time with family and friends. In addition, she is passionate about animal welfare and supports Houston Pets Alive as well as the Humane Society in Belize, which is where her family is from.
